This is my third frying pan by Swiss Diamond. I have a larger one and this size which I use almost daily for just two adults. This is my second one this size because I didn’t review the instructions carefully and ruined the first one. I used cooking spray and the instructions specifically say not to. They were correct and the pan surface became gradually dark and food was sticking and hard to get off.Read the instructions and the pan should last years!A friend bought me a larger pan with a lid. It is my favorite cooking utensil - even heat, can even cook without any oil ,cleans up easily. I treated myself to this smaller pan - great for making omelets and cooking for one or two people.The Swiss Diamond fry pan is the best pan I have for even heat distribution, it’s easy to clean, and it will last for the rest of my life. I have three other sizes of these pans that I’ve used for at least a decade. This 12” pan completes my set.It’s a superior alternative to all those “plastic” non-stick alternatives which are always of questionable safety in my opinion.Finally found a pan without screws in the cooking surface. No more bits of scrambled eggs caught on screws. Easier cleanup and perfectly shaped omelettes.The nonstick coating is great for cleaning as stuck food usually just comes off with running water only. However I'm docking 1 star because this pan's nonstick coating has a rough texture to it and cooking eggs in particular gets messy. When I think nonstick, I want something that's both easy to clean AND not messy when cooking sticky foods. I might look for an alternative with a smooth surface.The construction seems rock solid and sturdier than your typical frying pan which I'd expect for something that costs 2-3x more than your typical frying pan. We'll see how long the coating lasts.Have a number of Swiss Diamond pans... love em.. you will too...This is our fourth 12.5 inch Swiss Diamond. We go through one about every three to four years. That may sound like durability is questionable but we use almost 365 days a year. After three to four years, it doesn’t slide like new. However, this product will NEVER separate at the teflon/pan bond which is critical to us for safety sake. If you use polymer heat rated utensils, it will never scar.This frying pan is magnificent. I saw the negative reaction on this website and just had to comment. I have had my pan for about seven years now and ok it has aged ... but it is still largely non stick ... a quick swish with a nylon scourer and tiny drop of Fairy cleans it. I have since bought this pan as a gift for others and they are amazed at how special it is. It is the best available and lasts for y-e-a-r-s. Enough said.If this is called 'try-me' to inspire you to splash out on other Swiss Diamond products then it has failed for us, in fact it had the opposite effect, it's needlessly over heavy especially considering the small size, I was expecting the worlds best non stick and whilst it is good at non stick it scratched on second use, just with a spatula, (the same spatula I've used in a Berndes pan for the last 6 years with not a single scratch). I nearly ordered another Berndes and wish I had. Perhaps years ago they were the best but based on our experience not even close.Don't believe the hype - this pan is no better in the long run than any other non-stick coated utensil. It was fine for about 6 months. After that the non-stick characteristic deteriorated to a point where it might as well never have been coated. A quick internet search will reveal a multitude of similar stories. I have just sent a complaint to the manufacturer, more in hope than expectation. It appears that their 'Lifetime Warranty' refers to the lifetime of a mayfly. In the event that I get any satisfaction form the manufacturer I will post again. Don't hold your breath, but do save your money by not buying this item, or anything else in the range.After 30+ years of buying cheap pans, and having to replace them every few years, I decided to buy some really good pans. These ones have not disappointed. They are superb. Excellent quality, cooks food really well, heats evenly, can use metal utensils. I will buy this brand again.With this product the above saying is correct. It is really well made, just follow the manufacturer's instructions and you can't go wrong. Yes it is expensive, but after use cleans to look like new again. Highly recommended!
